History

We are a family run business, established many, many years ago, and now have three generations working together, something that we are very proud of. In addition, the ladies who work with us on a daily basis have been with us so long they feel like family!
So, introducing Reg the patriarch, all round expert and happy to be surrounded by ladies day in day out! Barbara, his long suffering wife, who has always had a needle in her hand and is an expert in everything from cross stich and embroidery right through to intricate patchwork designs. Now moving into the second generation we have Sue, who specialises in patchwork classes and machine embroidery, and into the third generation, Rebecca, who has taken to the sewing machine like a duck to water and teaches our machine embroidery and software classes.
Gill has been with us forever, her work is exceptional in knitting, card making and patchwork...a lady who can turn her hand to anything! We also have Jo, her artistic talent is second to none, and is always on hand to help you with colour choices and questions. We then come to the youngest members of our team, Petra and Katy..they work alongside us in the shop and have great knowledge and enthusiasm, to help with any questions you may have. Last, but definitely not least, for the workshops that we do not teach ourselves, we have Petrina and Margaret, two experienced, patient and very talented patchwork and quilting tutors. So as you can see, whether you are a beginner or a more experienced craft person, there is always somebody to inspire and guide you!

Happily located in the centre of the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, we are situated on a lovely pedestrianised street with other exclusive and interesting shops and cafes. Specialising as we do in patchwork and quilting, hand knitting, cross-stitch, tapestry and embroidery plus papercrafts and importantly, Pfaff sewing machines, there is always something interesting for you to see.

We run workshops and courses throughout the year and these take place during the daytime, evening and weekends, so hopefully you can find something that will fit in around your busy life. All of our courses are suitable for compete beginners unless otherwise stated on the programme and samples are also on display in the classroom. Shortly we hope to include photographs of the workshops on the website so you can see just what you are letting yourself in for. We aim for our classes to be relaxed, friendly, informal and most of all enjoyable and informative. The kettle is constantly on!

Regarding the patchwork, we stock all of the basic fabrics that a quilter needs and also some more unusual collections to tempt you. All of our fabrics are perfect, we do not sell seconds however, we always have a sale section with fabric at £4.99 per metre. Our fabric range is continually growing and changing with deliveries every couple of weeks, hopefully offering something new to you. We also stock a variety of waddings and accessories from cutting boards to lamps and everything in between, plus a good range of books, patterns and kits.

Hand knitting is also a passion and we have an excellent selection of yarns from Sirdar, Debbie Bliss, Noro, Rowan etc., again all supported by patterns and books. We have lots of knitted garments on display so you can see just how the yarns look and feel when they are knitted up.

Cross stitch and embroidery are where it all began for us nearly twenty years ago and although it is not as popular now as it once was, we are seeing more interest, not surprisingly as the designs are stunning. We have a good selection of cross stitch, embroidery and tapestry kits and we also sell aida, linen and canvas plus embroidery silks, metallic threads and tapestry wools from DMC, crewel wools from Appletons, perle threads from DMC and Coats and speciality threads from Stef Francis and Texere Yarns.

Haberdashery is an essentisl part of our business and in adition to a range of basics, we have a good range of exciting ribbons from May Arts and Beresfords, and a stunning range of buttons with an Italian collection delivered twice a year.
Zips, scissors, needles and pins, the stock list is endless.

For ten years, we have sold Pfaff sewing machines. Not only do we consider them to be an extremely superior make, but the support and back up is second to none. Because of this we can offer you free expert tuition whether the machine cost £189 or £4999. Our machines cover basic sewing for the occasional stitcher through to embroidery machines and software plus overlockers. You are limited only by your imagination.

Papercraft, card making and scrap booking is another interesting part of the shop and we have samples on show to inspire you and show you just how easy it is. We stock beautiful papers and peel-offs plus kits and numerous accessories from Hunky Dory, Craft Creations, RedHotBed etc. At the moment there is not a Papercraft section on the website and this is something that we will address in the very near future. In the meantime, please just e-mail or telephone if you have any questions.

Hopefully, the website will give you an insight into the shop, but it is only a small selection of our ever changing stock. If we do not have an item that you specifically want, we will always do our best to get it for you.
There is plenty of parking nearby so please pay us a visit, we are sure that you won't be disappointed.
